Stunning Night Sky at Night Sky Lodge!

This is a wonderful place to stay with a panoramic view of the Hokianga from the front bedroom verandahs and the night sky, on the clear night we were there, was amazing! Reena gave us a lovely welcome, with Turkish Delight and homemade shortbread and we had some lovely chats during our short stay. We were the only people staying that night, so it was really peaceful and a real luxury to have the well-equipped kitchen and lounge to ourselves! Although they were so spacious and well-equipped, that it wouldn't have been a problem if others had been there too. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were enhanced with lovely soft furnishings and pieces of artwork and vintage glass and china. We even had a hammock on our verandah! We were sorry to be only passing through and not able to relax and enjoy this beautiful area. Thank you so much, Reena and Dimitri for a great stay!

ELZUNIA STACHNIK (June 2017)

A delightful venue for a get-away, well positioned for exploring nature in 'the Northlands', seeing beauty of the land and waters.

Lovely stay, great bed, good shower, well appointed with beautiful artifacts with simple elegance to match the natural beauty of the water and environs. We also enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and delighted in arrangements the owner made to set up massages for us and yoga session. Recommend you stock up with food provisions if you plan to make own meals and the local options are limited (though tasty and friendly). We were there for 4 nights, left feeling refreshed and enriched with friendship with the owners. Many thanks. We will return for sure!

First rate Lodge accommodation

We couldn't have asked for more efficient and friendly hosts. We enjoyed the comfortable ensuite units and made good use of the welcoming and well provisioned kitchen and shared living/lounging room. The covered outdoor eating area and barbecue was also a great communal space. Certainly night sky lodge exceeded our expectations.

Peace and tranquility

If you want to find an enchanting location, clean rooms and a warm welcome then look no further. Yes, there's no tv but there is wi-fi, and, frankly what's to watch nowadays? The location is perfect, the air pure and there are wonderful water views. Dimitri and Reena couldn't be more welcoming and the rooms are clean with wonderful beds. Get away from it all and and just kick back. Room Tip: Get one with water views

Alan Greenslade (13 Feb 2017)

Thanks Alan. Sorry we missed explaining about the musty scent in the guest lounge/kitchen building. We're actually quite proud of it! Our lodge is on the site of NZ's first commercial winery, started in the 1880's by a German immigrant, Heinrich Breidecker. We're told that the scent is likely from wine spilt over many years on the kauri floor boards of the building back when it was used as the winery. The site and Mr Breidecker are documented in Dick Scotts book, Pioneers of New Zealand Wine. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed having you. Dimitri and Reena
