KohukohuI is a friendly, historic and picturesque community. There is a historic walk through the village and some great photographic opportunities.
Getting around the village is a delight! From the Lodge it is a leisurely 10 minute walk through streets lined with lush subtropical vegetation, picturesque houses and gardens, and you'll be in the 'CBD'. Here you can enjoy three art galleries, have lunch at the cafe and pick up supplies at the local store. Don't forget to take your camera!
You will need a car to get to Kohukohu and can come by ferry from Rawene, or overland from Kaitia or Kerikeri. NOTE: The car ferry to/from Rawene leaves Rawene on the half hour and Kohukohu on the hour. It runs from aprox 7:30 am till 8pm. Petrol is not available in Kohukohu but is in Rawene.
A tip for your visit
Village hours tend to be earlier than city hours, especially in the quieter seasons when you may need to be prepared to eat out earlier rather than later. Thursdays are currently roast nights at the local pub. We go often!
